An Ultimate elopement in winter in Tasmania can be a bigger weather gamble than any other time of year in our wonderful state!
This particular day in August had the whole state in a severe weather warning with heavy rain and strong winds, but when our lovely interstate couple arrived for their elopement at Swansea they were met with nearly picture perfect conditions!
Daniel Livings and I were incredibly grateful for this lucky break, and were able to implement a soft Plan B to keep this gorgeous pair out of the wind for the ceremony and posed photos by having their ceremony on the deck of their incredible Pampa Costa cottage. One of the many reasons we love elopements at Piermont is that they staff are so helpful, and so invested in making everything perfect for our couples. On this particular day Stacey was a wonderful member of our wedding party and made sure everything was in order for our us, and gave some great insider insight into the most sheltered spaces around the grounds for some more of their photos afterwards. Daniel and the newlyweds happily wandered capturing those dramatic wind-blown shots against the beautiful backdrops on offer all around.
A day full of music, happy tears, laughter and champagne, all while looking out over the water in this gorgeous area of Tas - such a great day.
A wonderful elopement 🍃
The June long weekend proved to be very enticing for three couples from interstate who all decided it was a fine time to elope in Tas at the glorious Cataract Gorge!
This is by far my favourite local spot - an incredible 5km stretch of forested river reserve wrapped around the very impressive gorge - and amazingly only a 5 minute drive from the centre of the city.
There are so many awesome backdrops for photo opportunities here, against the cliffs, the water, the suspension bridge, the ferns and the manicured gardens - as well as great wildlife viewing opportunities - by far the most abundant species here being the spectacular (and friendly) peacocks.
We started with a morning ceremony for our first couple who had their 4 special guests join us from the Solomon Islands.
Our second were two beautiful women who were joined by two of their parents for their afternoon celebration.
And our third was a couple who had travelled with their baby and toddler, and we provided the required legal witnesses for them. These three couples had all chosen the Ultimate Package, so we had Marty Ashford along to take professional photos.
Each of these ceremonies was unique but they all shared the spectacular crisp and cool sunny brilliance of this amazing space, had some photos captured in our Ultimate Package and left at the end of the day happily married!
A terrific weekend of elopements 🍃
Keeping it on the down low for these two who travelled from the heat in Far North Queensland to elope in the freshest crisp air of Dove Lake, in front of the majestic Cradle Mountain.
I have officiated around 60 weddings at Cradle Mountain and this day was by far the best weather day I have experienced there - and in May! - just brilliant.
A mild 12 degrees, not a breath of wind and the most brilliant sunshine.
Everything just shone for these two.
There are several ceremony locations to choose from, and this brave couple chose to marry in front of the iconic
Dove Lake Boat Shed.
We did have around twenty tourists watching on, which our couple didn't mind, and it actually added to the exciting and special element of the day.
Especially when travellers from across the globe clapped and cheered for these two as they had their first married kiss!
These two contracted their own photographer to come with us, who acted as one of our witnesses, and my hubby Ross came with us to be our second.
It was such a glorious day that we all wandered around for a while taking in the glory of this wonderful space before jumping back on the shuttle and heading towards home.
One of our most expensive locations due to parks permits and travel costs, but well worth it when it turns out like this.
An amazing day 🍃
Pip and Iain brought the fun and good vibes for their elopement at Freycinet Lodge.
These two had travelled from Western Australia to 'do the thing'. Being just the two of them, the elope in tas dream team were along to make it all official - my husband Ross, Daniel Livings as second witness and photography talent, and me - making it all official! It was unfortunately a very wet day so the awesome Freycinet Lodge staff came to our rescue with an undercover option on the deck for our ceremony.
This way the couple stayed pristine and perfect for the ceremony and some posed photos before totally getting into the spirit of the day and heading off into the rain for more photos on the rocks and beach overlooking the bay.
Lots of laughter and fun with these two.
The gorgeous bride wore white sneakers with her black dress and was totally up for some rock climbing adventures with her new husband - wonderful photo memories captured forever.
Our best piece advice for Tassie weddings is go with the flow! Especially with completely uncontrollable factors such as the weather, and these two were so onboard with that. In fact their frolicking in the rain photos on the gorgeous orange rocks that this area of Tasmania is so well known for, are next level special as a result.

A brilliant elopement 🍃
The divine Karen and Vince are huge Disney fans and had planned a dream getaway - a week sailing on a Disney Cruise ship.
They planned their elopement to happen on the day the ship docked in Hobart.
My husband Ross and I collected them from the wharf and set off on our adventure around Hobart and to the top of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. It was mid February (Valentine's Day to be exact!) and a cool but sunny day.
We met our friend and talented photographer Marty Ashford on the mountain and chose our ceremony spot on the lookout platform. A small group of visitors kindly stood back from us for the few minutes it took to hold our ceremony, and then cheered as the newlyweds kissed, much to our delight.
On the mountaintop it was very fresh - around 6 degrees for our morning ceremony.
These two superstars embraced the cold weather happily and we had such a fun and emotion filled ceremony on the lookout -
we could even see their cruise ship way off in the distance.
Afterwards we drove down the mountain to the Lost Freight Cafe for drinks and then the couple wandered about the scenic area having more photos taken.
These two were sunshine in human form, and we all had a wonderful day 🍃
Another beautiful day at Piermont Retreat in Swansea for Paula and Art, a wonderful couple who travelled from interstate to get married on the East Coast of Tasmania.
Just these two beautiful souls, my husband Ross and our great mate Daniel Livings Photography capturing all the special moments, and me to officiate.
It was a spectacular summer's day - a tropical 29 degrees in Swansea - and we chose to have our ceremony barefoot on the golden sand of the beach just steps away from their accommodation.
Absolutely picture perfect and it felt so great having our toes in the sand while these two made their promises in marriage to each other. So relaxed, authentic and natural - their ceremony full of happy tears and joyful laughter - totally the best vibes for a wedding day.
Afterwards we signed our documents back in their cottage while enjoying a celebratory glass of bubbles.
No-one wanted the day to end there so we all headed to the Homestead Restaurant for a delicious share platter and of course a few more bubbles - our own little wedding reception of sorts!
A brilliant elopement destination:
Another beautiful and memorable elopement in this gorgeous space 🍃
Emerald and Sam, our delightful couple, chose to enjoy their elope in tas experience at the breathtaking Piermont Retreat on Tasmania's East Coast.
These two Queenslanders, accompanied by their dear friend and talented wedding photographer, were seeking an intimate and private wedding experience. However, they didn't want to miss the opportunity to capture stunning photos, both as cherished memories and to share with loved ones when they revealed their surprise "we did a thing" reveal to their nearest and dearest!
This duo exuded a contagious sense of relaxation, happiness and fun. Laughter filled the air during their ceremony, accompanied by a few happy tears.
Their elopement was a true testament to the magic of this intimate wedding style. I was joined by my husband, who served as our second legal witness, and it felt like a gathering of old friends in this picturesque setting, all while uniting this exceptional couple in marriage.
What a brilliant day it was!
The venue itself was a masterpiece, as is typical for any location on Tasmania's stunning East Coast.
Even though the weather on that day was a bit unpredictable, warm but with some gusty wind, Emerald and Sam wholeheartedly embraced the unexpected twist, and we seamlessly transitioned from our original location to a more sheltered spot for the ceremony.
An absolutely wonderful elopement 🍃
Max and Talea are such gentle and loving souls, and wanted to create an elopement experience that felt 'like them'.
They invited their two besties from Brisbane along for the journey with them.
We decided on having the ceremony in front of the incredible Trowutta Arch (close to Dip Falls, and Stanley on the North West Coast of Tasmania). My husband also came along for this one to act as photographer and my walking buddy!
We decided on a morning ceremony so that this pair and their friends could make the most of the whole day touring, lunching, relaxing and enjoying each other's company. We set off on our easy, short walk through this incredible rainforest and arrived at Trowutta Arch at around 10.00am.
Honestly, who needs entry music or decorations for ambience when the natural setting was so glorious? The tranquility of this place was perfection, and we were totally alone (we had almost returned to the carpark before we came across two other people enjoying the walk and surrounds).
The bride had written the most beautiful poem for her groom and it brought us all to tears as we stood together in front of The Arch.
We had the ceremony and stopped for some photos at this idyllic spot, and then leisurely made our way back to the carpark so that the newlyweds could head off to the township of Stanley for an celebratory lunch with their friends.
A fantastic, natural, beautiful elopement 🍃
Kathryn and Jamie had travelled all the way from their Station in the far north of Western Australia to elope in Jamie's mum's beautiful garden in Ulverstone on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
These two have family scattered all over Australia, so it made the most sense to them to share this experience with them all, but at separate times and in separate places!
It also meant that this private pair could enjoy all the romance and intimacy of their wedding ceremony without feeling self conscious or nervous.
They started with their elopement ceremony in this picturesque cottage garden setting, and enjoyed a special meal with Jamie's mum and husband afterwards. They continued their honeymoon for a few days then headed back to the mainland to meet up with their various family and friends in different states along the way, before returning to their Station in WA and having an almighty camp out/wedding reception with many more family members and friends when they arrived home!
The emotions were running high for this one, so much love and happiness at tying the knot, and by videoing the ceremony they were able to share it in its entirety with everyone else later.
The Tasmanian early Summer weather which can sometimes be unpredictable, was absolutely perfect - warm and sunny, and not a breath of wind. We couldn't have wished for anything better!
A cosy and special elopement 🍃
Alex and Imogen chose the gorgeous little Iron Pot Bay Vineyard in Rowella to host their intimate elopement.
With their selected 18 guests, this couple wanted to make sure that their wedding ceremony was intimate and relaxed
with just their besties and immediate family members in attendance.
The weather was particularly dicey on this day, with severe flooding around the state just the day before. However, in the lead up to their ceremony time the skies cleared and the sun shone, and in a very sensible move Imogen brought her arrival time forward. Amazingly the rain held off for our ceremony and just a few pesky sprinkles appeared in the final moments,
not enough to bother us too much.
This super fun pair enjoyed their afternoon celebrations with their close clan and then headed into town for their big
"Engagement Party" which of course their guests soon realised was actually their Wedding Reception!
The perfect way to balance the intimate and emotional portion of a wedding day with the fun and celebratory side.
Oh and the wine here is amazing (the Ashli Rose is a must to try - an elope in tas favourite)!

An absolutely stellar elopement 🍃
